SpringVale Baptist Church is hosting its second Financial Peace University class as a community service. The 14-week class will be held on Wednesday evenings, staring Sept. 17. The class will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This class session will included a Budget Workshop night.
Financial Peace University is designed to teach families how to get out of debt, stay out of debt and build wealth. Attendees meet with their class each week to watch the video lesson and participate in discussion and accountability groups that will change their attitudes about money.
Two class preview nights are scheduled at SpringVale Baptist Church: Sept. 3 and Sept 10 at 6:30 p.m. The final registration for the class is Sept. 10. Cost for the class materials (member kit) is $99.51, which is due at registration. A member kit will be displayed at each preview meeting.
Dave Ramsey, a personal money management expert, breaks through the common financial jargon and explains how money really works in a simple, easy-to-understand style. Also, one week will be devoted to creditors and how to handle them.
The first Financial Peace University class was earlier this year, and 10 families attended. Results from that class are as follows: People saved $9,260. They reduced debt by $18,000, and they avoided $83,940 of debt.
Here are some comments from previous attendees:
“This class helped us with ways to get out of debt and save money. It gave us something to look forward to every week.” Isanti
“We have a better understanding of money.” Harris
“It made us look at our ‘wants’ and ‘needs’ totally different. We are now on the same page when it comes to getting into debt and have decided we don’t want it anymore.” Milaca
“We have increased our financial self-confidence. The class has created a peace of mind and heart and an inner sense of security.” SpringVale
“At first the $99.51 seemed like a lot of money to me. However, by the end of the first class, I knew I had already saved that much and more just by putting a couple of things into practice. The Financial Peace University class was great. Each week I thought it was the best one yet, until the next one. They just kept getting better and it continued through the last class. I recommend it to everyone I know, especially teenagers, college-age adults and young parents. I wish I knew then what I know now.” Cambridge
